<p>NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formulaI(R<1> is H or imino-protecting group such as t-butoxycarbonyl, acetyl, benzoyl, etc.; R<2>-R<4> are H or lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:( 2S,3S,4S )-2-Carboxy-4-( 1-methyl-5-carboxy-1Z,2E-hexadienyl )-pyrrolidine-3-acetic acid. USE:A neurotransmitter. It is an analogous active material of L-glutamic acid, and its activity is 100 times higher than L-glutamic acid. PROCESS:An about 2:1 mixture of the compounds of formula III and formula IV is prepared by using an imino-protected pyroglutamic acid of formula II as the starting raw material through several steps. The cis compound of formula III is made to react with 2R-methyl-3-hydroxy-propyltriphenylphosphoryl bromide of formula V to obtain a compound of formulaIwherein R<4> is H. Two ester groups of the compound are hydrolyzed and the imino-protecting group is eliminated to obtain the exemplified compound.</p> |
