PURPOSE:To increase the output of a traveling-wave tube without deteriorating the characteristic of a helix-type slow-wave circuit by preparing the input side of the slow-wave circuit from a helix, and preparing the output side of the slow- wave circuit from a ring-and-bar. CONSTITUTION:High-frequency waves coming from an input window 4 is introduced to a helix 7, and the other end of the helix 7 is connected to an attenuator 6. The attenuator 6 is connected to a ring-and-bar 9 as well, and the output terminal of the ring-and-bar 9 is connected to an output window 5. Heat generation caused by collisions among electron beams can be decreased by selecting an optimum design parameter. On the other hand, heat generation caused by current flowing into the circuit becomes large at the output terminal due to the continuous interaction which is directed toward the output side of the circuit. As a result, the extremely wide-ranged frequency characteristic of the circuit can be easily utilized as usual. Besides, the output from the output side generating much heat can be easily increased by the circuit prepared from the ring-and- bar 9 having an excellent heat-resistant characteristic. |
