An absorbent pad 10 is made of a liquidabsorbent, fibrous material, e.g. defibrated cellulosis, the fibre density of the uncompressed material varying continuously from a part of the pad having greatest fibre density (i.e. the centre in the illustrated embodiment), the thickness of the uncompressed pad being substantially constant. In the preferred embodiment (Fig. 3) the pad is contained in a stressed, liquid pervious covering which subjects the pad to longitudinal stress causing it to assume the shape illustrated. |
