An automatic control buffer coupling head 1 attached to a railway vehicle and shown coupled to a head la, comprises a traction claw 3 pivoted at (7), Fig. 1 (not shown), to the head 1 and loaded by a compression spring 11 towards the longitudinal centre line of the head, and a push jaw 2 which may have a guiding horn (not shown), wherein a latch 10 pivoted at (10d) to the head, is provided with a cam 9 which urges against the nose 8 of the traction claw 3 and is abuttable by a trigger 21 pivoted at (21b) to the head 1 and abutting a collar 20 on a push-rod 18 urged to an uncoupling position by a compression spring 19. For uncoupling, the push-rod 18 is axially moved to rotate the trigger 21 and is axially rotated to wind a chain or cable 14 on to the rod so as to rotate the latch 10 and hence the traction claw 3a outwards until the latch 10 abuts the trigger lever 21 when the nose 16 of the latch 10 abuts a notch 17a of the traction claw 3a. The traction claw 3 is thereby rotated outwards. To cancel the uncoupling, the rod 18 is pressed inwards against the spring 19. The lateral head (10c of each latching member 10, 10a is accommodated in a channel (22) in the end face of the respective latching member when coupling is completed. |
