The resiliently pivotably anchored mooring post is intended for mooring a suction dredger, pontoon or the like. It comprises a normal rigid mooring post which contains a resilient hinge element at a level above the seabed but below keel level. This element permits limited deflection of the portion of the post above it to accommodate movement of the vessel due to swell and prevent fracture of the post. The facing ends of the upper and lower portions of the post may define a wedge-shaped annular space which diverges outwardly from e.g. a central coupling bolt or ball joint and is filled with resilient material.
