PURPOSE:To recognize the shape of a block diagram even in case of a compound gate circuit by allowing a sensor to move only on segments constituting a rectangular figure. CONSTITUTION:For the recognition of a compound gate circuit shown in the figure, when a sensor reaches an intersection P1 on a connecting line, connection information on the terminal point P1 of the segment is written in a connection information memory. Then, an advance from the intersection P1 is made as shown by an arrow. At an intersection P2, the sensor start moving straight. Then, the sensor advances on block lines even at intersections P3-P7 similarly to return to the starting point P1. Thus, segments of the block diagram as a symbol are scanned to obtain a sequence of feature points of the block diagram. On the basis of this feature point sequence, the symbol is specified. For symbol extraction, a feature-point extracting circuit starts to read feature point coordinates out of the connection information memory and unprocessed picture elements out of an origin picture memory, generating a sequence of different points. This feature information is written temporarily in a shape information memory and then a matching circuit starts processing. |
