<p>Cigarette filter rods are described which contain a plug (10) of tobacco smoke filter material, a tubular element (12) which is flush with the plug in the lengthwise direction and extends to one end of the rod, and a wrapping (14) around the plug and the tubular element; the filter rod thus has a cavity (18) which extends from the filter plug and centrally through the tubular element, and is open at one end of the filter rod; the wrapping, or the wrapping and the tubular element, make it possible, when the smoker draws on the filter rod during smoking, to allow the entry of outside air from the side into the inner cavity. Such a filter rod (6) can be connected to a wrapped tobacco rod (2) by a tip wrapping (8), which possesses a perforation for the passage of ventilation air, in such a manner that the tubular element (12) is open towards the tobacco rod or towards the mouth end of the cigarette. The filter rods are expediently produced in continuous form and then cut into pieces of a length which permit convenient storage and handling, and ultimately attachment to the cigarettes. <IMAGE></p> |
