PURPOSE:To supply stable electric power to electric parts used in an area wherein power source conditions are inferior, by automatically varying the winding ratio of a transformer which selectively operates switching elements according to variation in power voltage, and holding the output voltage of the transformer nearly constant. CONSTITUTION:A voltage regulator is provided with a transformer 40 which inputs electric power with a variable voltage value from a power source 1, and a voltage detecting circuit part 9 which has set voltage values of a voltage detecting circuit, generating an output when a voltage varying similarly to the power source 1 reaches a prescribed voltage value, from a lower limit voltage to a higher voltage at prescribed intervals. Then, the winding ratio of the transformer 40 is varied automatically through bilateral three-terminal thyristors, 41, 43, 44, and 45 corresponding to the output of the voltage detecting circuit. Consequently, the output voltage of the transformer 40 is held at an almost constant value according to the variation in supply voltage. |
