The installation consists of a liquid ring vacuum pump and a centrifugal pump on the same drive shaft. A water driven ejector is in series with the vacuum pump. Two steam ejectors are added to the circuit, in parallel with the vacuum pump in that they are connected to the common suction pipe with isolating valves. The discharge (11) from the vacuum pump and the discharges from the steam ejectors are connected to the water ejector. The steam ejectors generate the same vacuum pressure as the vacuum pump but have different capacities. The steam ejectors can act as standby units or can provide increased capacity.
