PURPOSE:To maintain the temperature in the vicinity of the upper and lower ends of the cell stack of a fuel cell at the level substantially the same with the temperature in the vicinity of the central portion by forming a blind passage which communicates with only a manifold on the outlet side of a cooling gas, and whereby temperature raising/cooling gas can be spreaded, on a heat resistant insulating plate. CONSTITUTION:A plural line of a blind passage 11, which communicate with only a manifold 7' on the outlet side of a cooling gas, are formed on a heat resistant insulation plate 3. One of the cooling gas, whose temperature became high (about 180 deg.C) after it has absorbed the heat of stack, thus spreads and overflows in the passage 11 as shown in the dotted arrow. A heat insulating layer, whose temperature is maintained at a high temperature, is thus constructed between a cell stack 2 and a metal end plate 4, thereby the temperature of the whole cell stack 2 can substantially be maintained constantly and the improvement of the cell characteristics and life can be attained. d. cooling gas. |
