For the recovery of metals from their acid salt solutions, in particular from solutions containing hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, or hydrofluoric acid, the procedure after neutralisation for precipitating the metals as hydroxides is such that the precipitates formed are purified with dilute alkali solution after they have been separated off. The anions entrained in the hydroxide precipitates are released by the purification with dilute alkali solution, so that a precipitate largely freed of anions can be taken to a subsequent electrolytic or pyrometallurgical reprocessing.
