PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recorder capable of always printing clearly by enabling the setting of an ink discharge port at the recording operation position separating from a cap when recording after the cap for removing the clogging thereof is engaged with the ink discharge port. CONSTITUTION:A cap 133 is provided in such a manner as to be engageable with or disengageable from an ink jet head 107 having an ink discharge port. The cap 133 is provided in the recess 206 thereinside with a nozzle 207 for injecting air or a cleaning liquid to the head 107 and a nozzle 208 for recovering it therefrom. The head 107 separates from the cap 133 at the forward position thereof pushing down the cap 133 when performing a recording and when at rest, it engaged with the cap 133 being erected by the tension of coil springs 216 and 216' at the backward position thereof. Accordingly, during the period, the ink discharge port is cleaned. |
