PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recorder which prevents the occurrence of choking at an ink outlet, by a method wherein a device is provided with a cap mating an ink outlet, and the ink outlet can be set to a recording motion position through removal of the cap at a recording time. CONSTITUTION:A cap 133, which can be installed to and removed from an ink jet head 107 providing an ink outlet, is installed. Brackets 211, 211' are attached to both sides of the cap 122, and are pivotably secured to stands 213, 213' so that they can turn about axes 212, 212'. A tension is applied between the stands 213, 213' by coil springs 216, 216'. The head 107 presses down the cap 133 and is disengaged from the cap in an advancing position at a recording tiem, and is located in a backward motion position at a record suspensing time and engages the cap 133 which stands upright by the tension of the coil springs 216, 216'. |
