ON-LINE MANUSCRIPT CHARACTER RECOGNIZING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To improve the character recognition ability, by detecting the maximum train element for all trains of inter-stroke similarity trains, and outputting the standard pattern number corresponding to the element as the result of recognition. CONSTITUTION:A calculator 1 calculates the degree of similarity for each stroke of character information to be recognized and the pattern from the standard pattern group and stores the result of calculation in an inter-stroke similarity storage device 3. A maximum train element value detecting circuit 4 detects an element giving a maximum value to the similarity train. The result of the detection is stored in a column element maximum storage device 5. A maximum number count circuit 6 counts the number of elements providing a maximum value in the train, and a discrimination circuit 7 discriminates whether the number of elements giving the maximum value in the train is zero of only one based on the result of this count. The maximum train element value group is transferred to a maximum train element value adder 10 and the result of discrimination is outputted from a discriminator 11.
