PURPOSE:To perform development well without forming the accumulation of a developer, by making an averaged thickness of developer tufts for development approximately equal to a minimum interval between a developer supporting material and a photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:An endless magnt belt or the like which has plural magnetic poles arranged regularly and is stretched around plural rolls 223 is used as a developer supporting material 22 desirably. A minimum interval between the surface of a sleeve 221 of this belt 222 and the surface of a photoreceptor is defined as (d). When the maximum value of the height of developer tufts formed on the developer supporting material is denoted as t1 and the minimum value of the height of developer tufts formed between developer tufts having said maximum height is denoted as t2, the deveice is so constituted that these values and said minimum interval (d) satisfy relation t2+0.05<=d<=(t1+t2)/2 in millimeter unit. |
