PURPOSE:To efficiently retrieve the desired picture information, by supplying a sentence showing a retrieving concept. CONSTITUTION:A sentence input part 1 supplies the information necessary for retrieval of pictures in the form of a sentence and turns the sentence into a character code train to supply it to a sentence analyzing part 2. The part 2 analyzes a retrieval question sentence by referring to the grammar information, etc. registered at a sentence analyzing dictionary part 3, and the produces a retrieval logic equation. A control part 4 leads the information of the retrieval logic equation to a logic equation retrieving part 5 to perform a series of controls to store and hold the information led to the part 5 or to register and store the information which retrieved and extracted to a retrieval result memory 6. The part 5 contains a work memory 7 and gives the key word in the logic equation to a collating circuit 8. The circuit 8 possesses a drawing key word storage part 9 and carries out a detection by the comparison for coincidence with the key word forming a logic equation and by referring to the key word previously registered at the part 9. |
