The invention relates to an arrangement for mass balancing in a reciprocating-piston crankshaft engine with at least one balance weight, which is driven in phase opposition to the working pistons by the crankshaft via a balancing connecting rod and is guided by means of a rocker held pivotably on the engine housing so as to perform an oscillating motion on an essentially linear path. In order to avoid an inherent increase in the overall width of the crankshaft engine, the rocker is, according to the invention, to be arranged essentially parallel to the axis of the crankshaft. In order to make this possible, the articulation of the rocker on the balancing connecting rod and the articulation of the connecting rod on the crankshaft or that of the rocker on the fixed housing must be designed in such a way that pivoting movements about two mutually perpendicular axes are possible. <IMAGE>
