The invention relates to a device for converting a bed to a staged bed, having a resting board (2), which is adjustable in height relative to a baseplate (1), for the lower legs, a spindle drive (9) serving for the height adjustment, and supports which extend between the baseplate (1) and the resting board (2) and are variable in their position of inclination. To achieve a construction which is more simple in terms of manufacture and more advantageous in use, it is proposed that the supports are designed as four-bar linkages (10) starting from a slide (Sch), guided in rails on the base-plate side, toggle levers (26) starting from the central region of said four-bar linkages and leading to the baseplate (1), the slide (Sch) being movable (arrow x) towards the attachment point (27) of the toggle levers to the baseplate. <IMAGE>
