Method for the digital demodulation of frequency-modulated signals

The concept of a purely digital demodulator for frequency-modulated signals in the VHS band is specified. To filter the selected channel out of the incoming signal, non-recursive systems are used which have the advantage of linear phase. Phase-distortions of the frequency-modulated signals can thus be completely avoided. For the demodulation, the incoming signal is transformed into the baseband range. A special digital demodulation algorithm produces the audio-frequency information signal. In the consideration of the individual subsystems, implementation aspects are taken into consideration. The work is concluded with a number of simulation results. <IMAGE>
