The invention relates to the further development of a process for preserving sugar beet pulp by mixing the pulp with a small amount of a lactic acid-containing malt, obtained by lactic acid fermentation, and subsequent anaerobic lactic acid fermentation of the mixture, according to German Patent Application P 2943858 and is characterised in that, apart from the malt, a culture of microorganisms which can degrade hemicelluloses and cellulose to form fermentable sugars is also added to the sugar beet pulp. For this purpose, a culture of Myrothecium verrucaria DSM 2087 is preferably used. In the process according to the invention, the fermentation of the mixture proceeds so rapidly that no foreign germs can result in addition and thus an infection with undesirable microorganisms, such as mould formation, can be reliably prevented. |
