A filing cabinet (14) is proposed, whose drawers (24, 26) can be pulled out completely on both sides. When the drawer is pulled out in one direction by actuating the handle (32) on the handle panel (30), the drawer is released from the rear handle panel (30') which is locked by the cabinet body (16) and covers the hollow space at the rear occurring when the drawer (26) is pulled out. This reduces any risk of injury.
