The piece of furniture shown integrates hydroponic room-plant cultures in furniture-industry construction systems, has a room-partitioning and rack function and advantages, with respect to offers of the hydroponics industry, in terms of maintenance outlay, maintenance intervals and permanently stable possibilities for fixing plants in place. An elongate casing (1), which matches the furniture (e.g. oak living room) in terms of style, material and decor, contains the receptacle for plants and nutrient solution with fittings for indicating the liquid level, emptying and filling, which fittings, supplemented by automatic control, could fully abolish the maintenance outlay. Casing and room ceiling are connected by an upper part (2) which is in the form of a cage and has the following design characteristics: can be varied to match each room-sealing height, stable ceiling mounting without damage to the ceiling, permanently stable possibilities for fixing plants in place, various possibilities for inserting novel rack shelves. Said rack shelves (3) are not arranged transversely, but longitudinally, can be displaced in accordance with the form of planting, and are made of the same material as the casing and furniture.
