The invention relates to a label feeding device on strapping machines, comprising a magazine which contains the labels in compartments or holders while at the same time forming interspaces. After every automatic removal of a label by means of a push-out ram, the magazine must be further displaced by a step so that the next label is situated in front of the push-out ram. The step-by-step advancing of the magazine must be very accurate, because otherwise the errors sum up and the ram no longer strikes the thin label. An accurate step-by-step advancing of the magazine is achieved according to the invention in that for each step a ball or roller is fed to a channel by means of a drive, the first ball or roller driving the magazine via a driving element which projects into the channel. The balls or rollers are dimensionally very accurate since they originate from rolling bearing mass production.
