A method for consolidating a foundation using a bituminous cover layer is indicated, in which the bituminous cover layer is applied in the hot state to the foundation. To make possible the rapid and simple consolidation of the foundation, it is proposed that, after application, the cover layer be cooled with a low-boiling liquefied gas.
