The invention relates to a gas service line which consists of polyethylene and is connected, in a longitudinally frictionally locking manner and by means of a joining piece, to a gas pipeline which consists of steel and, for its part, runs in a refractory protective tube, with a clearance therefrom, the steel gas pipeline having, in the housing, a protective steel cap which is fastened to the refractory protective tube included in the masonry work. As connecting sleeves, a polyethylene joining piece is welded, at one end, to the end of the polyethylene tube and connected, at its other end, to the metallic gas pipe. The protective steel cap is designed as a means for preventing the steel gas supply line from being pulled out, a supporting element for absorbing vertical forces being arranged between the steel pipe of the gas supply line, or its polyethylene sheathing, and the coaxially running refractory protective tube. The protective steel cap is either welded to the steel pipe or a steel ring, as stop for the protective steel cap, is welded on the steel pipe.
