Diaphragm flushing valve which is actuated manually or electrically and is generally suitable for flushing systems, especially for flushing WC bowls and urinals. The valve is characterised in that air sucked in through an accelerator nozzle accommodated at the outlet opening mixes with the flushing water and the air/water mixture brings about at great speed an efficient, water-saving flushing. The valve actuation is based on the fact that a control chamber is constructed in the valve behind the regulating diaphragm, by which the inlet opening connected to the water mains is blocked, which control chamber is connected to the inlet side via a bypass bore. The diaphragm is pressed against the inlet opening under the mains pressure prevailing in the chamber. When the control chamber is connected to the discharge opening via an open non-return valve, the pressure acting on the diaphragm is reduced, so that the flushing valve opens. With the closure of the non-return valve, the control chamber fills up until the regulating diaphragm blocks the inlet opening again under the increasing liquid pressure and ends the flushing operation. The increase in pressure in the chamber, and therefore the blocking time of the valve, can be adjusted by means of an adjustable throttle member in the bypass bore.
