The invention relates to a safety device on rotating machines, such as centrifuges or drum-type washing machines, the switching of the electrical function elements, especially of the driving and heating elements, taking place in dependence on the closing position of the housing cover. The invention is intended to improve the ease of operation at a low outlay, whilst preserving reliability. The essence of the invention is that, when the closing cover is being closed, an automatically acting switching mechanism is triggered. According to the invention, this is achieved by means of a catch mechanism which is sprung in a different direction and which can be triggered by means of the closing cover. The sector of use of the invention is safety devices on doors and fastenings. <IMAGE>
