A process and a device serving for storing the memory contents of defective memory cells are proposed. If it is detected that a memory cell is defective, the data and the original address are stored in an intact memory cell under a substitute address. When there is a recurrence of an event in the system, the original addresses are transferred into a memory correction unit and compared with the addresses called up by the processing unit. If they coincide, the substituted address is called up instead of the original address. <IMAGE>
