PURPOSE:To produce a homogeneous fiber-reinforced resin item having a high strength, by molding a mixture of short fibers and an aqueous paste using a dehydrating mold, drying the mixture, and impregnating the mixture with a resin liquid while the inside of a mold is being deaerated. CONSTITUTION:The mixture (AB) of short fibers (A) and an aqueous paste (B) in a hopper 7 is scattered via a line 5 and a jet outlet 6 into the desirably shaped dehydrating mold 1 (the reference numeral 3 indicates the dehydrating space) supported by a base mold 2, while vacuum is applied by a pump 4 to dehydrate it to form a short fiber item 9, and then it is dried by a hot air current. Said short fiber item 9 is removed from the dehydrating mold 1, and after it is contained in the resin molding mold 10 and a lid 11 is placed on it, while vacuum is applied as indicated at 12 to deaerate, the resin liquid 13 is injected to form the fiber-reinforced resin item. |
