PURPOSE:To heat a heat-shrinkable sleeve arranged around the outer circumference of a pipe to be shrunk efficiently, by employing a heating apparatus wherein a heater in the shape of a ring is mounted to a specific truck that can travel on the top surface of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:A ring-shaped heater 6 is mounted to the forward part of the truck 5 comprising a frame 8 having a stationary front wheel 9 and a movable rear wheel 10, and on the other hand a jack 7 (that can secure the truck and also can lift the rear end of the frame) is connected to the rear end of the frame 8, so that a heating apparatus 4 is formed. A heating apparatus 4 is set such that heater 6 is positioned at a welded and connected section 2 of the pipe 1 to heat the heat-shrinkable sleeve 3 to be shrunk so as to cause the sleeve 3 to cover the connected section 2. Then (1) after the end of the frame 8 is lifted and the rear wheel 10 is moved toward the jack 7, the frame 8 is horizontally positioned to cause the rear wheel 10 to abut on the pipe 1. Then (2) the heating apparatus 4 is moved forward so that the rear wheel 10 is positioned in front of the sleeve 3, and (3) after the rear wheel 10 is moved beyond the sleeve 3 analogously to the procedure (1), (4) the heating apparatus 4 is moved forward and is set at a next welded and connected section. |
