A horizontally-withdrawable circuit-breaker 20 and associated fuses, such as 18, 19, are mounted as in Specification 1,107,990 on insulating panels 16 and 15 carried by channel members 40 slidable on fixed channel members 39 which are secured to the structure 11 carrying sockets, such as 36, connected to bus-bars 37, 38 for co-operation with plug-in contacts, such as 34. A latch 26 on a shaft 25 engages an aperture 27 to prevent withdrawal of the switchgear unless handle 24 is turned to a "release" position, a radially extending arm 41 on the shaft 25 interlocking the shaft 25 with the circuit-breaker 20 by means of a spring-loaded plunger 54. Plunger 54 is urged to the right when the breaker is closed (as shown) and its end 54a then lies in the path of arm 41 to prevent rotation of shaft 25. In the "release" position of handle 24 the arm 41 lies in the path of plunger 54 so that the breaker cannot then be closed. A latch 56 prevents complete removal of the switchgear by engaging a slot in channel member 40 until manually disengaged. The switchgear may be maintained in a partially withdrawn position for testing by locking the latch 26 with a latch 62. |
