A cartridge for valuable documents which can be closed and opened and which is equipped with a device 6 to trigger a device 8 present in the cartridge and intended to act on the valuable documents 7, which device includes a pyrotechnical compound 9. Based on the invention, the cartridge is characterized by the pyrotechnical compound existing in a container 8, open against the valuable documents, the opening 10 of which is pointed in an intended manner towards the edges of the valuable documents 7 inserted into the document and by the fact that the pyrotechnical compound's burning time is predetermined so that the valuable documents 7 are only destroyed at the place of said opening 10, i.e., are only partially destroyed.
