PURPOSE:To obtain a wide range of driving ratio without causing the necessity for using an auxiliary variable gear train mechanism, by selectively connecting a set of variable pulleys to an input shaft or output shaft through a system having each different transmission ratio. CONSTITUTION:An input shaft 11, connected to an engine 10, can be coupled to the first gear G1 and intermediate ahft 12 by the first and second clutches C1, C2. The first gear G1 is connected to a countershaft 14 through a driving chain 13, and the first variable pulley 20 is coupled to said countershaft 14. The second variable pulley 30 is equipped in an end part of the intermediate shaft 12, while the third gear G3, meshed to the fourth gear G4, is provided in the intermediate shaft 12, and the fourth gear G4 is connected to an intermediate countershaft 15, then the intermediate countershaft 15 can be coupled to an output shaft 16 through the third clutch C3. Further the output shaft 16 can be coupled also to the second gear G3 through the fourth clutch C4. |
