PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage of gases in a tap hole with dust slag, etc. by removing the old refractories around the tap hole, mounting a blind plate to the flange thereof, forcing refractories into the tap hole and feeding air without removing the blind plate after drying of the refractories and leaving the same for a specific time. CONSTITUTION:First a blast furnace is blown down and the old refractories around a tap hole 1 are removed. A blind plate 8 having a forcing hole 8a is welded to a flange 3 of the tap hole. Shapeless refractories 5 are forced through the hole 8 into the tap hole and are dried. Blasting is started without removing the plate 8, and the refractories are left intact for about >=48hr. During this time, dust slag, etc. are intruded into the clearances of the refractories 5 by the pressure in the furnace, thus closing the ways for gases thoroughly. The molten iron accumulated in the furnace is removed through another tap hole. Thus the leakage of gases around the tap hole 1 is prevented. |
