PURPOSE:To enhance the strength of an Al alloy and to provide an effect of damping vibration, by casting the Al alloy having a specified composition consisting of Al, Zn, Mg and Ti or further contg. Mn and Fe with a die casting machine and rapidly cooling the casting. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of, by weight, 80-90% Al, 0-20% Zn, 0-10% Cu, 0-10% Mg and 0-5% Ti or further contg. 0-3% Mn and 0-2% Fe is melted with a die casting machine and cast by injection into the dies. The casting taken out of the dies is rapidly cooled by charging into water, or it is reheated to about 250-300 deg.C and rapidly cooled by charging into water. The resulting Al alloy is made superplastic by the rapid cooling, and it has superior strength and an effect of damping vibration. |
