The mat is formed from parallel rows of undulating wire, each wire, meeting the other in corresponding wave forms as they change from row to row. The wave amplitude, wire gauge and net thickness are so chosen, that in the case of even loading along the length of the mat the ratio between the nominal wire tension and the strain on the mat is in the region of 250 to 2,500 kg/mm2. |
