PURPOSE:To prevent the increase in the diameter of the passing part of a roll for a copying machine or the like and heighten the rigidity of the roll, by providing a foamed polyurethane layer of prescribed thickness and mean density on the peripheral surface of an inner rigid core. CONSTITUTION:A foamed polyurethane layer 12 with a thickness of less than 4mm. and a mean density of 600kg/m<2> or more is integrally provided on the peripheral surface of a cylindrical core 10 to manufacture a roll whose shock resistance is improved and whose diameter is prevented from increasing at the side edges of the passing part of the roll.
