PURPOSE:To enable appropriate printing to be performed in a rough paper mode, by setting the width of a first thermal head to be slightly larger than the width of patterns to be formed. CONSTITUTION:Heat generating elements 11-0, 11-14 are added to a heat generating element array constituting a first thermal head 7 so that the vertical size of the head 7 is greater than that of patterns to be formed, by at least a one element amount on both the upper side and the lower side. With this arrangement, the pattern formed on an ink ribbon 5-2 is securely provided with void parts at upper and lower parts of the pattern, so that only the required pattern is securely transferred onto a transfer recording paper 2 even when a heating range at a second thermal head 8 is slightly deviated. Accordingly, a transfer- type thermal printer capable of appropriate printing in a rough paper mode can be realized. |
