In order to give attention to heavy work-pieces more rapidly at machine tools for the processing of such workpieces, and in order to reduce setting-up times, the carefully suspended workpieces are transported on metal carriers 15, pallets, by means of a trolley 5 having a crosswise control 16, 17 and a feed screw 9 that transports along this crosswise guide.
