A powder useful in welding and flame-spraying consists of Cu-coated particles of an alloy consisting, by weight, of:- Coating may be effected by immersing the alloy powder in copper sulphate solution. Phosphorus may be deposited on the Cu coating e.g. by chemical or electrolytic treatment in a dry mixture with copper phosphate: oxidation of the Cu/P layers produces different colours. Further colouring may be achieved by alloying Au, Ag or Pt with the Cu coating e.g. by chemical displacement in solution.</p> |
