1,205,285. Acid catalysts. E.I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 17 July, 1968 [19 July, 1968], No. 34116/68. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C2] A hydrogenation catalyst comprises a support consisting essentially of amorphous carbon or eta-Al 2 O 3 having adsorbed thereon the reaction product prepared in aqueous solution, of a water-soluble Ru salt and a water soluble salt of an organic carboxylic acid, said acid having a pKa in aqueous solution of from 2.5 to 5.5. The water soluble Ru salt is preferably of the formula MnRuX n+m where M is an alkali metal cation or NH 4 cation, X is hal, m is 3 and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3 or m is 4 and n is 0 or 2. Specified carboxylic acid salts are the acetates of NH 4 , Na, K, Mg, Co; NH 4 formate, chloroacetate and pivilate and sodium benzoate. When the support is active C, the S.A. is preferably greater than 400 m2/g.
|
