NEW MATERIAL:An azetidinone derivative shown by formula I [R<1> is group shown by formula II or formula III (R<4> is H or COOH-protecting group); R<2> is H or OH-protecting group; R<3> is OH, alkoxy, aralkoxy, arylthio or heteroarylthio which may contain substituent group]. EXAMPLE:(3S,4R)-3-[ (R)-1-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)ethyl ]-1-(1-methoxycarbo nyl-2-methyl-1-propenyl)-4-(benzyloxycarbonylmethyl)-2-azetidinone. USE:An intermediate for producing a carbapenem derivative (anti-bacterial agent) by using a penicillin derivative as a starting substance. PREPARATION:A compound shown by formula IV or formula V is reacted with a compound shown by the formula TMSCH2COOR<3> or formula VI in the presence of compound shown by the formula CF3SO3TMS (TMS is trimethylsilyl) to give a compound shown by formula I. |
