The respirator includes two driving chambers and one chamber (1) feeding the gas into the patient's circuit. A valve is positioned in the circuit to maintain the pressure on the membrane of the feed chamber at a level of the same order as the max. required for the patient. The pistons mounted within the driving and feed chambers are connected to a shaft (11) which carries an enlargement (12) at its lower end. This engages an indexing finger (13) when in the top dead centre position. The engagement causes the rotation of a square section spring biased shaft (14) which causes the pivoting of the flap valves controlling the inlet gas feed.
