The spacing of the links in the roller chain alters correspondingly with increased stretching. Specifically the difference in diameters of the bearing bolt and bush corresponds to the total maximal change of the link spacing. The chain passes round a wheel at the beginning of the stretching apparatus and a guiding device at the end of the stretching apparatus.
