The fixing mechanism holds equipment covers (2) down on a base-plate (1) and applies pressure on the electrical contacts. A steel rod (8) passes from the top of the cover to the bottom and has a fastening mechanism (12) at its lower end. The cover is also provided with notched catches (3) which fit over the rims of punched openings in the base-plate. The fastening mechanism consists of a section of resilient wire (12) bent through two right angles and fixed into holes drilled in the rod to form a rectangular loop, and leaving one end (16) projecting from the far side of the rod. When the rod is rotated through 90 degrees, by a triangle-shaped key, mating with the shaped upper end (11), the loop turns and bears against the edge of a recess in the base-plate in a cam-type action. This action forces the base-plate laterally w.r.t. the cover and brings pressure to bear on the electrical pins and the notched catches. The projecting wire end also rotates under the edge of the base-plate, providing extra anchoring.
|
