Process for the treatment of phosphate-containing minerals, esp. for the preparation of fertilisers, comprises the following stages:- (1) Attacking the mineral with a reagent containing a complexing agent for the mineral, so as to solubilise the mineral to form a solution and opt. leave a solid residue. (2) Separating the liquid phase from the residue. (3) Treating the liquid phase so as to precipitate the desired phosphate, esp. phosphate fertilisers, and regenerate the initial complexing solution. (4) Separating the precipitated phosphate and (5) Recycling the complexing solution to attack further mineral. Extraction of phosphates, esp. for fertilisers, from minerals with regeneration and recycling of complexing agents, provides a simple, economic process, which can be effected at relatively low temperatures (room temperature to 100 deg.C).
|
