The childs safety seat for a car comprises a rigid shell (A) which envelopes the child from head to foot and is connected by a fastener to a frame secured to the vehicle floor. The shell (A) incorporates a rectangular box (1) made out of flame-resistant cardboard, the interior of which is divided into regular cavities by a panels. The number of internal cavities formed is determined by the kinetic energy which must be absorbed in an accident by progressive and irreversible deformation of the box to ensure the safety of the child.
