In a chimney (1) with a shaft (3) serving for removal of the combustion gases, there is arranged at the upper end, to improve the draught, an obliquely upwardly acting blower (6, 7). The blower (6, 7) is switched on automatically in the case of underpressure in the shaft and switched off again when a predetermined pressure is reached. <IMAGE>
