A centrifugal-force switch for limiting or switching-off an internal-combustion engine has, on or in a shaft (1), a flyweight (3) which is guided such that it can move in the radial direction and is held, originating from its inner position, over a first subregion of its full lifting movement under a smaller spring pretension than in the second subregion of its full lifting movement. When the full lifing movement takes place, the flyweight (3) operates an electrical switch (16) when said flyweight reaches its outer position. Such a spring characteristic can be achieved using two springs (7, 8) of different spring force, the spring (7) having the smaller spring force engaging on the flyweight (3) over the full lifting movement, and the spring (8) having the larger spring force not engaging with said flyweight (3) until the first subregion of the full lifting movement of the flyweight (3) has been completed. <IMAGE>
