PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of a carrier liquid stuck to a transfer material and lower the cost, by providing a transfer roller rotatably a prescribed gap, which satisfies a specific inequality, apart from the surface of an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:A transfer roller 5 for transferring a visible image due to a toner, which is formed on the surface of a photosensitive drum 1 by wet development, to a transfer material 6 is a gap (d), which is equal to the difference between radiuses of the roller 5 and turning wheels of both end parts of the roller 5, apart from the circumferential face of the photosensitive drum 1 because these turning wheels are turned together with both end parts of the circumferential face of the photosensitive drum 1. This prescribed gap (d) is set to satisfy inequalityI, and the transfer roller 5 is held in a potential of a polarity opposite to that of charging of the toner. By this constitution, the transfer face of the transfer material 6 is not brought into contact with the carrier liquid stuck to the ground part on the circumferential face of the drum 1, and the carrier liquid is not stuck to the transfer material 6 and is recovered by a cleaning device. |
